Name:

Varivax (Varicella Vaccine, VarV)

Abbreviation:

VarV

General Overview:

Varivax is a live-attenuated viral vaccine that is weakened so it does not cause the disease but stimulates the immune system to develop protection against the virus.

This vaccine is designed to stimulate the immune system and produce antibodies against the virus, providing effective protection from infection.

Varivax is presented as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder, which is reconstituted with a diluent to form an injectable solution.

It consists of viral particles as well as excipients that ensure the vaccine’s stability and safety.

The main principle of the vaccine is based on introducing viral antigens into the immune system, which activates T and B lymphocytes and leads to the development of immunity - this process ensures long-lasting immunity and an effective response upon encountering the virus.

Varivax is specially prepared so that after injection, the virus does not cause the disease but is sufficient to trigger an immune response.

The vaccine is produced under strict quality control standards and stored under specific conditions necessary to maintain its effectiveness.

Storage Conditions:

  • The vaccine must be stored frozen between -15°C and -25°C;
  • Before use, the expiration date on the packaging must be checked;
  • After reconstitution, the vaccine should be used immediately by the healthcare provider;
  • It is not allowed to refreeze the vaccine after reconstitution.
